I’ve been connected with the Hip-Hop Museum DC since 2018. It’s a museum born out of passion for collecting hip-hop memorabilia, and paying proper respects to the foundations and pioneers of the culture. Induction ceremonies honor individuals who have made an impact on hip-hop, and their histories and memories of those powerful early years are captured for our continued education.
CEO and Founder Jeremy Beaver (aka DJ Boom) was born and raised in Brooklyn, and relocated to DC in the early 2000s to found what has become DC’s premier hip-hop recording studio. His long-time passion for collecting hip-hop memorabilia - clothing, figurines, limited edition sneakers, gold and platinum records, signed microphones., original flyers from the 70s and 80s…really anything connected with hip-hop! - translated into the dedication of space within the building to the impressive collection. The ground floor is now home to the display of collections that the museum owns. As local regulations changed, the studio adapted to now include the Lifted Cafe and shop, where some of the finest smokeables and edibles can be found. Right across the street from Howard University, make sure you check out the museum and store when you’re in DC!
